​My name is Riley Wimer and I opened Feathers Over Fur in the summer of 2026, with the goal of providing a hospitable setting and excellent guided and self guided hunts. Some of my fondest memories in life have come from standing over a bird dog on point whether that be in my home state of Virginia or just about anywhere upland birds reside in the United States. After spending the 2025/2026 hunting season traveling the country in my mini bus and guiding hunts for a prominent wingshooting outfitter in Idaho it became abundantly clear what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The 212 acre property that Feathers Over Fur is situated on was once a prominent upland game preserve up until 1978 that even Richard Nixon got to experience the thrill of the flush on this picturesque landscape. 
Located in Southwestern VA, I live on the preserve with my pack of bird dogs and look forward to having you visit this beautiful property in the heart of Appalachia.
